Tour de Cure 2004
Team Wheely Cool rode in the Tour de Cure bike ride in Napa on Sunday, May 2. The weather was spectacular and we had a really fun time. I took quite a few photos, and it has taken me a while to manage and prepare them. But now they are ready to share.
As team captain, I decided to focus on recruiting and fundraising more than just the riding portion of the event, and I think we were very successful in that way. Our team totaled 15 riders, and together, we raised a total of $8,635 for the American Diabetes Association. That well surpassed our goal of $5,888. Among 88 teams at Napa this year, we were the 7th highest fundraising team! Click here to see how we stacked up against some of the other teams. So I would like to thank my whole team for their fundraising efforts, and participating in the ride.
As for the riding part, the majority of our group rode the 50 mile route, with a few doing the 25 mile route. It was not as mentally and physically tiring as last year's 100 mile effort, and I think we enjoyed it much more this way, and were able to ride together as a group, which really makes cycling enjoyable. Our team uniforms served us well in finding each other before the ride, as well as afterwards. And in fact, we received numerous compliments for our Wheely Cool jerseys. If you ever want to get noticed, wear one of these!
